Take the Zilker Park Vision Plan Survey No. 4

11/22/2021

Picture
Help Shape the Future of Zilker Park Today – The City of Austin’s Zilker Park Vision Plan Survey #4 remains open.  If you have not already, please take some time (up to 20 or 30 minutes) to take this survey. The survey is jumbled and often vague, with a bias towards building more stuff in the park, but it’s important for everyone who cares about the park to participate.
Here are a few suggestions to consider when answering the questions.  Please add your own individual comments and be sure to hit “save” on the comment boxes.
  1. Rewilding and Ecological Uplift are most important to support. Write in rewilding throughout, especially in each of the identified zones.  (See the SOS-sponsored Rewilding Zilker Park plan  and map for reference.)
  1. Where possible, parking should be moved to outside the Park, paired with greatly increasing access that does not require car storage within the Park.
  1. Support nodes (small gathering areas) for programming (educational and outdoor recreational activities) – instead of distributed or centered programming.  Write in: Reduce the physical impact of, and park closures for, large commercial events.
  1. Support no or very limited “vendor areas” (restaurant row is next door).
  1. Zilker does not need a “large visitor center or hub” or “gateways” but rather improved informational signage throughout the park to enhance responsible enjoyment, appreciation, and stewardship of the park.
