JOB REQUIREMENTS & DESIRED SKILLS
Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with other team members and outreach coordinator as a representative for Save Our Springs Alliance for weekly in-person tabling outreach efforts.
● Productively and positively engage members of the public in dialogue around current and immediate conservation issues.
● Assist interested persons in becoming more involved with SOS through membership activation, petition signing, communicating with elected officials, attending city council meetings and/or volunteering at future events.
● Provide information about SOS Alliance and local environmental issues to the public and educate fellow Austinites about ways to support SOS Alliance.
● Help maintain a safe and functional outdoor tabling environment.
● Assist with outreach on social media (Facebook,, Instagram etc.) and at local events
*Additional opportunities to assist with outreach events, guided walks and tours at Barton Springs Pool for exceptional candidates

- Background in activism, civic engagement and environmental policy (water quality, land use, conservation) a plus but not required.
- Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.

We are looking for fellow Barton Springs swimmers who are comfortable with public speaking and facilitating group activities. We will provide paid training and CPR cert, if needed. $20-$25/hour, 8am-12pm Saturday mornings. 5-10 hours a week. Help during July/August is needed the most, but tours start in March with an opportunity to start earning early!

● Productively and positively engage tour participants around current and immediate conservation issues related to BSP, deliver tour curriculum in an effective and engaging manner (storytelling rather than lecture), answer questions from guests throughout the tour.
● Build rapport with guests, creating a positive group dynamic, and adapting to diverse personalities.
● Understand and respect different cultures and customs when interacting with international visitors
● Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the local area and insider information about BSP (we will train you!)
● Provide exceptional customer service by addressing concerns, adapting to unexpected situations, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
● Assist interested persons in becoming more involved with SOS through membership activation, petition signing, communicating with elected officials, attending city council meetings and/or volunteering at future events.

Description: Save Our Springs Alliance seeks a passionate, self-motivated public interest advocate to join our current team of three staff attorneys. Founded in 1992, Save Our Springs combines science, economics, education, and citizen action with legal expertise to protect our Texas Hill Country home. As the only Central Texas nonprofit conservation advocate with a full time legal staff, we represent our members, other groups, and private landowners in strategic actions to protect our home waters and the natural and cultural heritage of our region.
