Living Springs documentary needs SOS member support

Media producer and U.T. Faculty Member Karen Kocher's documentary Living Springs series needs our help by September 8th. Please consider a donation today to this excellent online Barton Springs education project through Kickstarter. Let's help Karen meet her $5000 Sept. 8th goal to finish up the current phase of the project.

SOS Aquifer Toll Road Comments

While juggling vacation after Barton Springs Fest, SOS Alliance's team of lawyers and water, wildlife and transportation experts filed detailed comments on TxDOT's and CTRMA's draft environmental impact statement on the proposed SH 45 SW toll road. Our team's comments are collected into one document HERE for those interested in learning more. The battle over 45SW and the proposed conversion of Mopac from a local commuter highway to Interstate 35 West will heat up in the weeks ahead.

Drought Deepens

On August 14th the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District declared a "Stage II Alarm Drought" as Barton Springs flows dropped below 38 cubic feet per second. The USGS reports today's Barton Springs flow at 29 cfs. Meanwhile, the Highland Lakes continue dropping, to 35% full, with inflows to the lakes at less than 20 percent of the long-term average. Please do your part to save water at home, work and school.
