Happy Birthday to us (and you)! On the 30th day of November in 1992, the Save Our Springs Alliance was officially incorporated with the Texas Secretary of State. With the unflagging support of thousands of donors and volunteers we continue with gratitude and excitement to work every day for you to protect Barton Springs and the Hidden Heart of Texas - the Edwards Aquifer.
We thank everyone who has pitched in over the years to help save our springs. Thank you!
Please join us in celebrating our 20th birthday at our annual Holiday Party next Thursday, December 6th at Mercury Hall. Between 6 p.m. and midnight we'll be enjoying great food and beverage from local vendors; aspecialsilent auction of gifts and services from Austin's best local businesses and artists; and live music and dancing with the Bouldin Creek Bobkats and Bill Oliver's Otter Space Band.
Click here for the party and silent auction schedule and to view our fabulous sponsors and auction donors.
We give special thanks to our founding Board members: Helen Ballew, Dan Smith, Bryan Hale, Mary Ann Neely, and Jon Beall. The founders served as representatives from the SOS Coalition PAC, Travis Audubon Society, Save Barton Creek Association, the Hill Country Foundation, and the Austin Sierra Club to establish a dedicated legal and public policy advocate for Barton Spring and the Aquifer.
With your continued support of time and charitable donations, we will continue the fight to save our springs for as long as it takes.
And we hope to see you swimming at the springs between now and mid-December when the pool is closes for the bypass tunnel repair project.
Poopwater Update: Yesterday the Administrative Law Judge presiding over the request by developers Lee Weber and Shawn Breedlove, dba Jeremiah Venture, for a permit to irrigate 330,000 gallons per day of treated sewage on the Barton Springs recharge zone ordered the developer and TCEQ to publish new notice of the proposal before any hearing on the matter resumes.
The ruling means several months of additional delay. The new notice will also give neighbors and others potentially harmed by the proposal the opportunity to join with SOS Alliance and the City of Austin in opposing the permit request.

Please make Save Our Springs Alliance a significant part of your end-of-year charity budget. Every dollar donated before the end of the year will be matched one-half by a generous donor.
And don't forget that the Holiday Party auction is a great place to knock out a gift list for friends and family.
